Close In But Feels Miles Away

Daily life includes a lot of noise, commotion, and travel stress. Leaving all that behind can be a top priority while on a Wine Country getaway. A stay along the Wine Road can put you near the heart of the action, yet far away from the hustle and bustle. There are many options that are only minutes from a town, yet feel secluded and peaceful.

The Applewood Inn & Spa is just minutes from Guerneville, but far enough out that the quiet of the surrounding redwood trees is palpable. The inn has the enchantment of a Mediterranean villa just minutes from the Russian River, quaint towns, a variety of dining options, and, of course, excellent wine tasting options just a short drive away. If you are celebrating something special, the Applewood staff will arrange long stem roses, chocolates, a cheese course, or sparkling wine awaiting your arrival. You can also order a picnic for your wine tasting adventures.

Maybe you are looking for some old world charm nestled just far enough away that you aren’t even tempted to leave its solitude. The Old Crocker Inn, located a few minutes outside of Cloverdale, was originally a hunting retreat built in the 1880s by railroad magnate Charles Crocker. Today this B&B offers five lodge rooms, several cottages or suites, five acres of expansive grounds for strolling, a pool, multiple decks, and more. Though filled with plenty of old world charm, it also offers modern amenities if TV and Wi-Fi are on your must-have list.

Historic Charm

If you crave the historic charm of an old Victorian house or country farmhouse, many the lodgings along the Wine Road offer just what you are seeking.

The Sonoma Orchid Inn’s rustic farmhouse comes with all the amenities you want along with the historic graces of a well-maintained property. Renowned for their fresh, hot, family-style breakfasts, this inn is perched on a hill just a moment away from the Russian River and surrounded by redwoods and native California oak trees.

With a spa, café, lounge/bar, and a fine dining restaurant, leaving the grounds during your stay is optional. Located on the north end of Santa Rosa, the inn is about a half hour from most of the Wine Road member wineries and just minutes from the Santa Rosa airport.
